This seems to confirm a Dead Space 3 is in development.  No other info beyond that.

Hopefully they do something to shake the series up a bit.

'Army of Two 3' and Dead Space 3 are in development at Visceral Montreal, the EA studio previously best known for the first couple of Army of Two games.

The cached version of UI designer Jeremie Benhamou's CV (via Superannuation) reveals that both projects were in development at the studio, possibly since 2009:

Electronic Arts / Visceral Games Montreal
[Unannounced project]: Graphic design direction / UI Art direction
Dead Space 3: UI Art direction, pre-production concepts
Army of Two 3: UI concepts

I'm really looking forward to The Last of Us now.  The first trailer looks fantastic.....being from Naughty Dog that's hardly surprising.  No in game footage in the vid, but Uncharted 2 & 3 used the same models and textures for the cut scenes as the gameplay sequences so we can assume it will at least look great.

(Not sure it counts as survival horror as I don't know much about the story other than some NPC's are infected with some fungus type thing)

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to The Last of Us. I believe both the Uncharted 2 and 3 cutscenes were pre-rendered in the game engine itself, so I'm guessing it's the same with TLoU. Looks excellent. As for Dead Space 3, well, I just hope they don't make it even more action focused.

Oh, and I'm really excited for this Grin

Great, I hadn't heard that news.  Not mush info there though so I'm guessing it's still some way off?

The last couple of levels of DS2 seemed like they had finally run out of ideas so I hope DS3 tries something different, with a different back story and therefore different enemies and a new lead character.

I see there are a few more details about DS3 floating around.  It's set on an icy planet so that should lead to a few new ideas and could work really well.

Slightly more worrying is talk of co-op gameplay and a new cover system which does make it sound like the emphasis is switching more towards combat.  Hmm.

The gameplay they showed at e3 looked very action focused. More human enemies than necromorphs. Ugh. I actually think co-op could work in Dead Space, but it's not looking very promising to me. The RE6 demo was facepalm worthy.

Both might turn out to be decent games, but they wont be Dead Space or Resi games.  They'll just be like every other 3rd person action game that wants to be Uncharted.  I hope I'm wrong though.

I agree that co-op could work well in a Dead Space game though.  As long as they don't increase the amount of ammo the co-operative scavenging could get interesting.  Say a section where only one player has a torch.  Or where one person hacks the doors while the other covers them.  Just avoid too many straight out gun battles.  And it's one of the few occasions where I think friendly fire could add something to the game.

Yeah, co-op could be done in a way that is every bit as suspenseful as single player. Dead Space's success comes from its atmosphere and suspense. They need to emphasize those aspects.

Hopefully the new setting gives them opportunity to try some new ways of creating that atmosphere and suspense.  There's only so much you can do when stuck in small corridors so sequences set outside in blizzard conditions could work well.  Make larger open spaces that need to be investigated or simply traversed between buildings.  The Grey movie did that bit well with the sound of the circling wolves an almost constant worry with the odd glimpse of them through the snow storm.

Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs - Teaserpowered by Aeva

Can't wait. Amnesia: The Dark Descent is one of the best survival horrors I've ever played. It's funny how a game made by 5 people managed to be more atmospheric and scary than any horror game made by a large company this generation.

Must admit I've never even heard of Amnesia before.  Looks like it's just on PC though.  Shame.

wrong, earlier in this thread:
Speaking of survival horror games, I picked up Amnesia: The Dark Descent last weekend and have been playing it the past couple nights. I haven't finished it yet, but it may well take over AC Brotherhood as my #1 for this year. It's quite possibly the scariest game I've ever played. I was kind of skeptical at first after hearing so many people tout Penumbra as the scariest game ever made (not even close IMO), but yeah, this one is great. Play it by yourself in the dark with headphones.
A look on Metacritic seems to suggest it's a PC only release which explains why I've never heard of it.  Decent reviews mind.  Shame as I don't really do PC gaming.

just came by to point this out.  Smiley

ZombiU (awful name) is the only WiiU (awful name) launch game I'm interested in so far.  The vids so far have ranged from the decent to crappy to clearly bullshit mockups, but this latest one looks much better.

No if only they would remove the awful constant on screen input prompts that also infected just about every Wii game.

By most accounts the demo of the Silent Hill game on Vita isn't all that bad.  I'd download it if I had enough space on my stupidly priced memory card.  Hmm, what to delete.
