I don't own a 360 and was never much into DUOTris, but I swear, if there's ever a boxed version of Mono, I'd be SO there.

Three if you want to count my copy then  Grin

Technically I have a version I can play for free so didn't need to, but there's something quite satisfying about being able to buy some software you've played a little part in Smiley

I think there must be a typo in a few of them there zoots and surely too many leading zeros on the score table - either that or I'm completely rubbish Smiley

You're right....you're rubbish Wink

Nah, I actually asked SiN to add an extra digit to the highscore as I could see someone filling it.  Get your combo counter up into double figures and then remove a load of blocks using something like the RND powerup and you can get some really big scores.

And only a couple of Zoots are really tricky.  The one that caused me the most frustration (in a good way) was the one to get 250k points without using a bad powerup.  I kept setting the bloody things off by accident lol  Smiley

Seem to be stuck on about 95,000 at the minute - gonna work on getting that combo multiplier up then - (which is pretty ingenious mechanic - I like the way it rewards fast play but makes it so much harder and error prone - very good risk / reward going on there)

Smiley  There's nothing very clever about having a time based combo system, but it does seem to have more impact on the gameplay than in a shmup where you would normally find a similar system.

And rocketing those blocks down to keep a combo going is another one of those little things that are strangely satisfying for some reason.

Anyhoo 95k is a more than decent score.

Well in shooters I tend to wanna play fast anyway, just for the hell of it, so I don't think it would make such a big impact there. In puzzle games there tends to be more thought involved so the effect on the gameplay is much more pronounced.  Typically in your run of the mill match 3 games you'd get your combos by chaining more blocks together per match, naturally making you wanna play slower.  Here it's the exact opposite Smiley

I managed a 9xCombo and thought I'd unlocked a zoot - but nay, I got confused with reach level 9 - it was a 20x I needed  Grin

I'm up to about 160000 on arcade and about 120000 on classic now - I think I prefer the purity of classic - arcade's a bit randolm for me and by the time I remember what the powerup does it's too late and I've match it anyway (good or bad).

Yeah good points.  I'd never really considered how other "match-3" games handled their combos and how that impacted on gammeplay, but you're dead right.

Funnily enough I remember reading an anaylysis someone had written about mono, which made some really interesting comparisons between it and puzzle games.  I can't claim a lot of what was said was in my mind when I designed it, but it did make a good argument for why it had proved relatively popular.

I laughed at that because the original Zoot target was in fact a 9x combo, but I asked SiN to increase it to 20x because it was just too easy Smiley

Well I'm just short of 1 million in arcade, but haven't played Classic since playtesting.  I know what you mean about the randomness of arcade mode and that's certainly a factor when you first start playing, but when you get really good at exploiting the powerups then the randomness becomes less and less of a factor.

A million - bloody hell Smiley  not really fair though as you have insider knowledge and can exploit the if (Gamertag == 'fdense fog') score+++++ logic!

I think I'm not planning ahead enough and only reacting once the new pieces are on the board.  Sometimes my old man brain gets a bit confused too and I'll match a block from the bottom and then try and match the corresponding top block to a column on the bottom area! (if that makes sense).  I'm also a big wimp and playing on low effects!

But the real reason is purely I'm playing a little portable TV - once the big screen is set up you watch me go...(bad workman, etc)

Nah, I buy that "playing a little portable TV" is a valid excuse in this case.  Trying to concentrate on both boards at once, then you need everything to be as clear as possible.

Have you done the puzzles yet?  It took me bloody ages to design those....and even longer to solve them all.  BunnyMonkey!

I should be getting some MS points very soon so I will be buying the game then. It looks awesome and the trial definately showcased some of those awesome BZ features I know and love. That is one trippy game. + I really enjoy puzzle games so it should be a good purchase.

I'll try and pick up a cheap cabinet in the sales and then we'll know for sure - haha.

I can imagine.  I did the first three and thought 'this is gonna be easy'.  I'm stuck on #4 at the minute Smiley  Nice addition.

@JDog053 - you won't regret it!  It's lovely Smiley

fog maybe you need to set up some sort of leaderboard on here? Just a sticky post or something quick 'n' easy so we can all see how we are doing.

They also reviewed DUOtrix and quite liked it. Smiley
