That basketball demo looks great.

A novel use of different tech.

And those personal drones with live video feed would work really well with a VR headset too.

Looks like the OR is gaining a lot of traction now.

And about time.

Exciting times.   Smiley

Skyrim running on OR.  Looks great.  It's worth skipping to about 8mins for his reaction to seeing it for the first time.  BunnyMonkey!

This is pretty awesome.  A 90 year old grandmother using OR.   Grin

The bit where she asks if she is still sitting where she was and not actually in Tuscany is great.  Grin

Also reading the comments I see someone saying their father is disabled and this would be a great way to give him the feeling of freedom again.  I never really considered uses outside of gaming, but if it could be used as some sort of therapy too then that's fantastic.

Another area is medical.

I know already surgeons can take a virtual tour of a body organ for example, before they operate.

Amazing stuff.   Shocked

That's a good one.  I know they have been experimenting with using robots for surgery controlled by a surgeon thousands of miles away and OR could help there too.

I would imagine the armed forces would have a good few uses too (remote vehicle control, bomb disposal).

Eve Onlines developer has made a proof of concept space combat sim and it looks so good.  Being able to look around in the cockpit means it doesn't look half as claustrophobic as normal cockpit/in car views do.  You can look all around to spot enemies and avoid incoming missiles.  Can't wait

Indeed.  Everyone will get hyped over the 3D and immersion, but freeing up the camera will have the biggest impact on gameplay.

Not exactly VR..... I see Microsoft are still improving illumiroom.  Looks cool, I'm just not convinced it isn't more distracting than anything.  Doubt it comes cheap either as a decent normal projector isn't.

Yeh, doesn't do much for me either.

The VR headset is where it's at.
