psp looking for indie devs

hey binary zoo team,
i only just found your games recently, but i love them! (i regret not being able to play them sooner)
i sent you an email yesterday (to admin@binarzoo.com i wasnt sure if the lack of a "y" in "binary" was a typo, cause "binarzoo" is the address it gives you when you click contact),
but im not sure if you got it (mostly cause it sent me an email saying delivery status notification failure, lol),
heres what it said:

i think its cool that your making games for the xbox 360 via xna,
unfortunately i dont have a 360, so i cant play them.

anyway what i wanted to ask you was if youd ever consider making a game for the psp?
id love to be able to play echoes on my psp using the right side buttons (X,O, ect) to aiming, and (obviously) the analog stick to move.

you see (you may know this) sony is making another redesign of the psp,
called the "psp go",
the go will not play discs (umd's) and instead will rely solely on downloads (mostly because of the popularity of the ipod touch),
so in addition to making all games that were on umd, downloadable,
they will also be releasing bite sized games called "minis",
they are going to try to have many indie developers contribute these minis,
and when i played youre games i thought that you might be able to make a wonderful contribution to the developers that will be making these minis.

i hope that you might consider this,
because i love your games,
they have amazing visuals and good solid gameplay,
the sound also make a wonderful addition to the experience,

im glad someone other than me likes the idea.

i know fog seems to be the head behind binary zoo (lol, i didnt realize how weird that sounds),
so i guess its his decision,
and you guys are probably very busy,
with your own lives and other projects,
but you can also consider the publicity this could give you,
since minis are brand new,
where as all the other consoles have tons of developers,
so on the psp you may have a better chance at standing out.
but if you dont want to,
i can see why.

Well there will be a PC release at some stage too.  The XNA code can be used for both a 360 and a PC version.

Yeah I'm aware of PSP minis and I have to say that even with the necessary cost of a dev kit it's temptimg as I think the simple nature or our games would work really well on any handheld device.  However...

...right now Binary Zoo is just me.  H2 help out with music, but design, code, graphics and audio are all down to me now so yes I'm very busy

There are a load of systems I'd like to write games for, but I just haven't got time to do everything....unless my cunning cloning experiment is successful.

not to mention replying to every idiot that has a request for a game.
getting your games on yet another console would prolly be incredibly far away,
well thanks for replying,
i hope you find your self with more time.
and perhaps one day when you dont have too many games to make you can try making another port of one of your games.
you can be sure ill buy it.

I was really referring to current Binary Zoo projects when I said I was on my own (of course I still have plenty of good people to bounce ideas off and get feedback).

And DUOtrix is very much credit to CMS and not BZ as you did all the work

I haven't looked into it for a while so don't know what the current costs and rules are, but it's possible that you don't just need a dev kit and have to pay a fee to Sony for the right to publish stuff on the PSP and PS3 as you have to with Microsoft on the XBox360.

well here's what I've learned, aside from the dev kit, but unfortunately you also have to get each game rated to release it, if you want it in North America you have to get it rated ESRB for $800 US, and if you want it in Europe it has to be rated by PEGI which costs €500.

it's possible that you don't just need a dev kit and have to pay a fee to Sony for the right to publish stuff on the PSP and PS3 as you have to with Microsoft on the XBox360.

as far as paying for the right to publish on the playstation consoles, I'm not aware of any costs.

I'm not too sure what you mean, but i know wifi is restricted on minis.
