This is a brilliant idea for how the Great Pyramid of Egypt was built.

This video is one part of a series.

Video 4 Moving Stones of the Great Pyramid to Great Heightspowered by Aeva

The basic idea is that the huge 70 tonne stone blocks were floated on barges from the Nile to the pyramid site, and then through a series of locks, raised into place.

Very very clever idea.   Smiley

Makes much more sense to me than thousands of slaves dragging stonnes up sand slopes.

The time lapse video footage of the Panama canal at the end of the video is also worth watching as it shows the power and speed of locks.

That's great.  Before watching I'd have guessed the logistics of pumping the required amount of water to make the locks work was beyond reasonable.  Apparently you don't need to.

I've no idea if that is how it was done really.....Bloody clever though.

Yep.

I don't think there is much universally accepted proof this is how it was done, but like you say, it's a very clever and well thought out system.

You also don't need the hundreds of thousands of slaves originally thought to have built the Pyramid by the traditional method, but a mere a fraction of the labour force with this water method.

It's also widely accepted by egyptologists that the stones were transported down the Nile on barges in the first place, having been quarried away from the Pyramid site and this new water method just expands on that idea.

Theres also a growing theory that some of the stones were cast in place.  Sort of like pouring in ancient concrete.
