Moving to Monkey X for 2D  & web stuff

yep , it's not a perfect solution , but its fast and exists and Mark is activly working on it .

and in 2 days or si i made a web chat that works . HTML5 >> PHP & a flat file .txt to store the posts data .
PHP does most of teh heavy lifting teh interface is HTML5 and has a  hideable screen Kbd for droid devices that refuse to show soft keys .

black berry have no issues .

I like that! Was going to suggest a show/hide keyboard button but that seems covered Smiley

Nice.  The way Monkey handles the multi-platform problem is great for adding new platform support like this.  It's a very different solution to the AGK approach.

i like that it can extern to any of the native target languages as you may need . that is very handy .

for me any how .

language is 'nice'  err has a cozy feel .  looks to have power and serious tools , but some things are a bit obscure .
like reflections vs pointers . LOL  all that jaz .

but it forces some coding habits and intorduces users to using classes quick .

any rate it seesm to fit my short term needs ( contracts )  .
Aaron and i have some ideas for a game underway now in Monkey  , and im working on a frame work  for contract stuff rite now .

~ lack of sound sin HTML5 and IE with Monkey may be fixed Mark put up a new experimental build.

soon as i can  get the 99$ usd  i'll get a full Monky X . ~ funny i got jungle IDE before monkey . hahaha
any rate it has been and is fun to use and that has to say something .

it's growing 3d support  via 3rd party  projects and looks liek mark is planning something 3d with it .

but if i realy want to do latest 3d i woudl prolly just get a unreal 4 / or a  cry engine subscription .
i like  Unreal 4 whole tool set and systems appeal to my Max3D brain . the 20 usd / mo does not . LOL

~ JDog' its one of those thinsg i thought  most devices would detect key scan but nope .

droids require focus on a input target , and that pauses teh HTML5 / .js   , so unless teh droid has one of those forc eopen key board sor a blue tooth kbd hooked up  in app screen keys are needed.

Yeah ease of expansion is a major plus for Monkey and one of the major drawbacks with AGK.  While it wont matter for the vast majority of people and I would rarely if ever use it myself, it would be nice to have that option.

hoping to see some 3d officially supported some time in Monkey X . it's cool and very java like.

that said i have been messing with jMonkey Engine too, and it is very 3D , as it even ships with a compatible version of blender , and it's free .
it's java .

Time to move on I think.  People can't wait around hoping that one day he will return and if he does that he will stay around this time.

Ah right I thought it was a Java branch of Monkey.

I assume the confusion is why Monkey was renamed Monkey X.  Tongue

Monkey X looks and feels much like java and blitz some how blended.

but Java Monkey Engine 3 SDK , is not  related to Monkey X ,  it is a full IDE suite / package . very cool .  JME3 is full java .

im interested in  Hardwired for blitz , especially if i can use Blitz Plus for it .
