Playing through Vice City Stories on the PSP has just reminded me how great the series sound tracks have been....although GTA IV's didn't do it for me.

Is there a better game soundtrack than this one?

I know any mention of Oasis tends to polarise opinion, but after Liam & Beady Eye's poor album I'm really looking forward to Noel's solo effort.

This is amazingggggggggggg.  Kang-a-roo!

Virtual Boy - Masspowered by Aeva

It reminds me of a modern day version of the Parallax theme from the C64 days which is still my favourite game tune of all time.  It's stunning what they could get that SID chip to do in the C64 using whatever tiny piece of memory the coders had left them.

Yeah I've been listening to Virtual Boy none stop since finding that.  Love it.

Back to a bit more from Noel Gallaghers new album.  This is used on an advert over here which seems to be on TV every 5 minutes so I'll be sick of it before it even comes out.  Tongue  Looking forward to the album though.

Lately I've been listening to these two tracks rather heavily...
(get the feeling someone linked Silversun Pickups here ages back and I never paid attention)

I like that Silversun Pickups track.  Smiley

Reminds me a hell of a lot of early 90's alt-rock indie bands.  Stuff you're probably too young to remember like the Pixies, Whale etc and most noticeably The Breeders...

My band being a bit grungy, I'm familiar with the Pixie, having got into them after trying to grunge up the songs I was writing. Massive love for Where is my Mind and especially Alec Eiffel. In that track especially, do you notice a huge Smashing Pumpkins sound?

I've heard that Breeders song I reckon! Definitely see what you mean about the similarity there. This is definitely the kind of stuff I like.

Top man. Smiley  I thought those bands might be a bit early for you, but you have great taste.  I love The Smashing Pumpkins especially their older stuff from Mellon Collie and Siamese Dream.

And yes I'm still championing Puressence as the most criminally underrated band in the UK for the last 15 years.  Tongue

I'm liking the new Kasabian album.  A mix of classic Kasabian tracks and some stuff that's a little different for them and I think it works.

La Dispute - Such Small Handspowered by Aeva

Loving this song by La Dispute - Such Small Hands

For me the meshing of guitar and vocals here is amazing. The lyrics, and the way they're delivered, is spine-tingling.

Only thing that bothers me is the ending; I'm a sucker for songs with dynamics (hence the love of grunge); this song builds and builds and then...! ends. Sad Hunting through the rest of their album for more tantalising hits.

I see what you mean. I was just getting into that and it ends.....search on Youtube for the "full" version and that is it.  Not sure about the vocals, but the instrumentation was great.

Wait what... that was it? Well they've surely got the punk -style track lengths right.

The song sounded great, except that the lyrics were a bit ...funny. The vocals on the other hand were pretty good, given the style. Not perfect, but nice enough. Give them a couple years to master it and there should be a nice gem of an album.

Hahaha, yeah. Apparently it's the lead track off the album so I guess it's just supposed to be a lead in track. Will have to sit down with the CD I reckon.
