I just Downloaded the Mono game which you stated is a " Test Project " is simply incredibly innovative and lots of fun. You should really think about taking this project further.  I could actually see this game on XBOX LIVE Or other money making areas. I would just change the  actual percent finished to either a scoring system or both scoring and percent finished. This way there could be a TOP SCORES List on XBOX LIVE Or PS3 When it comes out.    Mad me actually dizzy , but I get game sickness often with alot of motion.
GREAT JOB GUYS. REALLY.

Hi SAMF2000,
Welcome to The Zoo and thanks for the comments Smiley

lol.  This appears to be a recurring suggestion/request around here.  We'd love to if only it was that easy (check out some of the other threads on the Games board for details Smiley )

Well in the full version of mono there will be multiple levels so a scoring system and percentage finished system is exactly what we will be using.  Percentage to track your progress through a level and an overall score which reflects your progress through the various levels.

Thanks for the feedback.

Good question Smiley  We have some other things that we have to finish first (one of which is another playable demo) and then I can return to it.

All the various bits like the new background and enemy routines are written, I just need to bring them all together.  How long will that take?  Well it will depend on how much free time I have to do some coding....which varies a lot  Smiley

Well, at least Oblivion is sort of behind us, perhaps you can find the time now ;-)

I didn't know what to write here, so I thought I might fill up the space uselessly, to give you something to read.  I know this is a blatant waste of bits and bytes, but if you would be so kind, don't hate me for it.  I only sit here and type because I am bored.  And you are too, my friendly reader.

behind. what do you mean by behind? That's the game I'd play if I'd have the time. Got like 50 active quests in it...

I think one of the reasons Mono rocks so much is because of the scoring system. It's not just some arbitrary number, there's a definite limit, and you get the graphical representation as well. It's so much more tangible than just a higher number.

Yeah that's a good point.....76% means a whole lot more to people than something like 1,692,500 does.

Also the scoring system is obvious.  Everyone knows exactly what they have to do to get a good score unlike many shmups with fancy score multipliers etc.

I'm not against more complicated score systems with multipliers and combos but the simplicity of mono is probably why it appeals to many non-shmup fans......which it does as I have a whole bunch of emails saying so.

Having said all that, it probably doesn't appeal to hardcore shmup fans for exactly those same reasons.  It's a casual-shmup Smiley
