soon as i first started playing this very addictive game, i thought it would be cool if the top scoring run was actually recorded and could be set as the computers screen saver and just simply repeat itself. just a thought....

Hi hunterkiller and welcome Smiley

With the latest development build of mono I'm already recording the last game.  I was just going to use it as some sort of attract mode but there's no reason why it couldn't be used as a screensaver Smiley

given that any exe can be run as a screensaver, this should be fairly easy thing to add.

Yeah it's just a case of how you trigger the bit we want to see.  Using the normal exe for the screensaver would mean that when run, the main menu sould be displayed.  I could trigger the playback code after a certain period of no user input but that would still mean having the menu displayed for 20 or 30 seconds.

The alternative would be to make the playback code part of the game intro.  That way it would run as soon as the screensaver was triggered and the user could scip it to start the game properly.  A bit of testing needed me thinks. Smiley

That's what I do for my latest game - it's ALWAYS playing (either controlled by the user or the demo manager) and the menus and stuff just get layered on top if its the demo.

Yeah I've seen that and it looks really cool. Smiley

One of the things I did when rewriting all our menu code was change it so we can overlay it over anything, so we could now do something similar.  I don't plan on having the whole game running under the menu though.....just a replay of the background being created during the players record score.  Or at least that's the theory.  Tongue

But I have another game to finish before that Smiley
