Hi, I've been a big fan of Binary Zoo games since your release of Duo. That's why when I saw the game Bullet Candy being offered through Steam for $9.95, I thought I should let you guys know about it. To me it looks like they stole qute a few features from your Mono, and are now charging for it. Truthfully it is quite a different type of gameplay but I wouldn't be surprised if the basic engine is the same. I should also mention that I've only played the demo, so I don't know all the features. Here's the website for the game and developer. http://www.charliesgames.com/

By the way, I'm really looking forward to the release of Echoes and appreciate all the hard work you've done. Thanks!

hmm...I can see where you're coming from, but I think it looks more like a clone of Geometry Wars than anything. Though I haven't played the demo. I'm just judging by the screenies.

Oh and thanks for the comments on our games Smiley

Hi clockinreverse.
Welcome and as Aaron says, thanks for the comments.

Although Bullet Candy has just appeared on Steam it has been on the Shareware scene for quite a while now......and although it might look similar to mono in a couple of ways, it plays nothing like it really.  Well it plays a bit like it in that it's a Robotron styled shmup but it's more of a bullet hell game (or at least my idea of bullet hell Smiley ).

It also lacks mono's unique gameplay feature and that's the background scoring system........well mono's only unique feature really as, like Bullet Candy, all the other ideas have featured in many many games before Smiley

It's really the nature of 2D shmups I guess.  Every game is always going to be compared to other games because, without knowledge of each games gameplay and scoring mechanism, many do superficailly appear the same.

Just look at Jeff Minters ongoing battle to get Space Giraffe seen as something more than "just another Tempest".
