Although Bullet Candy has just appeared on Steam it has been on the Shareware scene for quite a while now......and although it might look similar to mono in a couple of ways, it plays nothing like it really. Well it plays a bit like it in that it's a Robotron styled shmup but it's more of a bullet hell game (or at least my idea of bullet hell
It also lacks mono's unique gameplay feature and that's the background scoring system........well mono's only unique feature really as, like Bullet Candy, all the other ideas have featured in many many games before
It's really the nature of 2D shmups I guess. Every game is always going to be compared to other games because, without knowledge of each games gameplay and scoring mechanism, many do superficailly appear the same.
Just look at Jeff Minters ongoing battle to get Space Giraffe seen as something more than "just another Tempest".
