Currently in the process of switching various bits of the engine back on to make sure they play friendly with the new bits I've added.

A few tweaks have been needed as I've rewritten a few of the older bits of code to make them more efficient, but I think I've fixed all those required updates now.

Changes to my scripting system will speed development up a touch.  More importantly from my perspective, they will also simplify some of the more tedious tasks like loading media, and building animations from those images are now automatic.

Right now I'm building the menus of the new game.  My scripts make that process a hell of a lot quicker and less painful than it used to be so where I'd normally put off doing them in the past, I'm now keen to get them out of the way quickly so I can start on developing the fun stuff  man

I'm going to need more than usual for this game with new mode select, level select and upgrade screens so I thought I'd get them mostly done now so I can then concentrate on the fun gameplay bits.

Placeholder graphics for now although I like the style and look of the menus already so I'm quite pleased with that.

I'll be interested to see if we get mono-esque placeholder enemies. I mean that worked so well!

mono was, to some extent, a beautiful accident.  This is much more planned....unusually for me  BunnyMonkey!


These 'menus' are taking way longer than anticipated.  That's just making me really glad I did them first though as I wouldn't have fancied trying to knock them out if the final weeks of the project.

Currently standing at 14 menus  Shocked  Some simple like the 'credits' one, others more complicated like the options and level select screens.

The first menus I've done which look half decent too (by my standards anyway) and aren't simply functional.

Meanwhile...

How did you guess the exact title from that logo?  Grin

So the planned E3 game structure is sorted in my mind.  Several game modes and several different levels.  Levels are effectively 'solar systems' and are playable in any of the game modes.  (Think of old echoes/echoes+ as a single 'solar system')

It's all easily expandable so I could possibly add extra 'solar systems' in the future.  I also have 50 Achievements/Trials already planned and they will link to ship and gameplay upgrades and a bunch of new enemies so content wise there should be a lot more to keep people returning to play than previously.

There will also be a kick-ass soundtrack  man

Happy New Year people  Smiley

Did very little over Christmas and the New Year so better get stuck back into it now.

Time to start work on the actual game bits.  First I need to make sure all my new 3D, camera routines etc still work and I haven't broken them while working on other stuff.

Who knows, by the end of the week I might actually have a single cube displaying on screen.  BunnyMonkey!

While it's not critical at this stage, I do like to get an early idea of how the game will look (and sound) so I've settled on this logo/title in the now traditional Echoes purple and cyan colours.

Like the rest of the game, it's a very simple design.  Like everything I do  BunnyMonkey!
