Don't get me started on a rant about boss battles and associated difficulty spikes.   Smiley

I've been sorting my backups and came across my old DBPro directories so spent more than a few minutes playing mono and DUO.  Quite good fun as I hadn't played them in ages. Smiley

Not sure where I'll be going with this dev lark next, but I've convinced myself that I need to look at a more PC friendly language than XNA for future projects...and if that new language supports other platforms (Mac, iOS, Android, whatever..) then that's a bonus.

Yeh, it's great fun going back to something you've written after not playing it for some time.

I've recently been playing Autocross racing again as i've got a new publisher for it.

Mind you, i still have alot of my old Dark basic stuff, and most of it is quite cringeworthy.   Tongue

But it was all valuable learning experience.

You'll probably not like my suggestion, but C++/OpenGL does both PC games with (relative) ease and Mac games, you just change the file extension and it'll work fine for iPhone/all the i's. And oddly, after learning C# its not too difficult, especialy in VS2010.

If it's Bmax have you released a Mac and Linux version?

Yeah that's something I've considered. Smiley

The fact I enjoyed learning C# so much is a big reason why I'm not put off learning another new language, whether that's C++/OpenGL, a Basic or whatever.

I just remembered that you can still use C# and do C#/OpenGL should you need/want to! Smiley Atleast you're keeping your options open anyway!

Nope.

It was Blitz3d.

All in 3D.

I've just looked into that and it's an interesting option.  From what I can see just about all mobile devices support the slightly slimmed down OpenGL ES, but the latest version of "full" OpenGL (4.1?) is also compatible with OpenGL ES.

That appears to mean you could support just about every platform going if you went down that route and I suspect that's what thes multi-platform languages like Monkey are doing behind the scenes. (Blitz might always have been based on OpenGL for all I know  Tongue)

At a glance OpenGL itself doesn't look the nicest of languages so if Monkey (or something else) wraps it up into something more user friendly then that could be the way to go.  I dare say I could do that myself, but if someone else is prepared to do all the nasty work for me Smiley ....

In the meantime I'll continue looking through my existing engine code and seeing what I'll tweak next time around.  I've already come up with a few cool ideas.

So I've set myself the objective of rebuilding the Binary Zoo website.  There have been a few aborted attempts at it over the years and I've wanted to do it myself for a while but have always been too busy coding.  Right now though as I weigh up language choices I don't have that coding distraction so it's now or never.

So....is Wordpress still the way to go?  I know I can do a blog with that, but can I easily integrate other pages for games and links to this forum etc?  Web dev is something I know absolutely nothing about so whatever I use it has to be easy to create and maintain.
