 Undecided

I know how you feel.

Website design is definately harder than it looks.

Keep at it though.  Practice makes perfect.

I've started bookmarking websites which i like the look of, or i think are of interesting or unique designs.  For future reference when i come to create my next site.

But sometimes it's far easier and hassle free to get someone else do it.

I've spent the weekend trawling music sites looking for suitable tracks for my game.

I am actually a musician as you know, having played the guitar for over 20 years and i have also downloaded music making software, but it's far easier and less time consuming for me to trawl music sites and purchase the odd track here and there, rather than spend a few weeks creating tracks myself.

For future reference.
Heres a really good music site for game music.  Tracks are relatively cheap at about 10.

My problem is I want simple and clean whereas everything I do looks basic and crap Smiley

I'll perservere.  At least the php tweaks I wanted to do workied ok and this CSS stuff is relatively simple.

Cool.  I know a lot of people on the XNA forums use these 2 as well:

Progress.  I've come up with a design I can live with (that's as good as it's going to get I think  Tongue ) so now I'm trying to create a Wordpress theme to match that....and realising php is quite a bit different from other languages I've used  BunnyMonkey!

Yeah unfortunately they are really restricted to tweaking colours, CSS stuff etc and nothing too major.  Smiley

I'd like to have a bit of an understanding of the php behind it anyway so if anything goes wrong or I eventually try and incorporate the forum into it, I know what's going on.

Anyone know whether it's still preferable to use GIF images on websites where possible as opposed to a PNG ?  I'm sure loading times and png compatibility issues can't still exist...do they?

Can you tell it's 5 years since I took any real interest in website coding.  Tongue

I don't have a definitive answer for you.

I would have thought nowadays that png's would be fine.

Probably best to do some research first.

Well I'm using png's because I love them too.  If they turn out to cause problems in old browsers I'll change em.

Which site is this then?  :shifty:

If anyone ever needs a nice tutorial site for html, php, CSS etc then I highly recommend this one.  Everything is explained perfectly with nice visual examples of what everything does:

The new site design is very, um, grey  Tongue

Fairly happy with it now though.  Just need to tweak all my CSS and drop in some higher quality images for the logo etc.
