Watched Gran Torino again last night.  Brilliant.  It's just a shame that the lad that plays Thao's acting is as bad as Clint is utterly brilliant.  It's truly embarrassing at times.

Finally finished watching the 'Moon'.
With a cast of one as Paul mentioned, it's a bit of problem if you don't happen to like the lead actor but fortunately for me, the movie didn't turn up quite as I expected - and the beautiful score by Clint Mansell (which seems to pick up only in the last act or so) helped quite a bit.

Also, UP. Best movie of 2009. (...of those that I can remember atm)
('Up in the Air' was also enjoyable)

District B13 Ultimatumorwhateveritsnamewas. Parkour movie without any parkour. oh and it's a sequel.

I give Where the wild things are a cute/10. It was great, so fluffy but yet so dark!
Def not children's movie. Also, the music is really good, very emotionfull.

That's on my list.  I feel I'll have to force myself to watch it though as even those that love it don't make it sound too appealing....if you know what I mean Smiley

Just watched the trailer.  Arcade Fire....great!  It does looks like a kids movie to me though....but it isn't?

Moon is very, very good.

Also, Kevin Spacey does an excellent robot voice. Smiley

I took a 4 year old who was scarred out of her mind and a 6 year old who sobbed most of the way through it.

I wouldn't class it as cute at all - it's utterly bleak.

Definitely not a kids a film.

I'm gonna grab me a copy of that now.  The trailer makes it look ultra cute so I'm intrigued.

Avatar then.  The 3D and CG are mostly great, even the predictable story wasn't as bad as I'd feared (although it was bad), but the scripting was horrible.  Why do so many films these days seem like they were written and scripted by 12 year olds?

DiCaprio and Crowe were excellent in Body of Lies, but don't watch it when extremely tired otherwise you wont have a clue what's going on at the end.  I know I didn't  Tongue

I don't think it would've made any difference if you hadn't been tired. (It didn't make any difference to me) Tongue

The Hurt Locker - I fail to see the brilliance. It's not a hollywood type of a war-movie and that's a good thing, but that's about it. Oh and I did like the fact that it was filmed in Jordan (been there!) - so the places look at least a bit middle-eastern.

Zombieland - It could've been fun, but all that gore was a bit unnecessary. Then again, for most people that level of over-the-top gore means fun times so what do I know.

lol.  Glad it wasn't just me then.

I may give that a miss then.  I bought into the hype, but it never sounded that appealing to me.

How come you went to Jordan then? Smiley

I actually went to Israel last year with my parents (sort of a late gift for my dad's 60th birthday) and during that trip I crossed the border over to Jordan to see the sights and visit Petra (see attached image) of course. I almost never made it back from that trip, as the Israeli border police didn't quite believe I was 24 at the time. Tongue (And I was carrying loads of suspicious looking camera gear... not to mention that I was traveling with much older people)

The whole trip was quite a bit of an eye-opener in the sense of seeing what the life in Israel really is. Not all that much fun, from the looks of it. Things like this and more happened while we were there.

Now that I think of it, I probably never mentioned that I also spent a week in wales last summer. I think I've been bit by the travel bug (currently planning a trip to canada to see my brother and his family).

Where in Canada? I live in Seattle now, so there shall be no Binary Zoo Get Together, but I'm still curious. Smiley

Thunder Bay, ON

p.s is really that expensive to fly from Toronto to Thunder Bay - it only costs twice as much to fly from Helsinki to Toronto.
