Since using version 1.03 I have a problem:

Sometimes when I start the game it asks me to create a new profile. Like my old one has just disappeared.  Embarrassed

No error messages or else. Before I close the game scores and zoots are there, but almost every second or third time I start Echoes this bug appears. Never had this with 1.01.

I already tried to re-download it, but it doesn't help.

Hope you can help me somehow since it gets frustraiting to earn zoots every day again.

System:
Win XP SP2 (up-to-date)
512 RAM
ATI 9800 with 128MB VRAM

- Check your file permissions
- For testing if its because of security-settings, run echoes under full admin rights

Hmm... the files are not write-protected and I'm always logged in as admin. Or do you mean something else?

It appears to work fine here.

Only thing I can think of is that, it's trying to create the new save file before Windows has had time to delete the old one.  I'll add a slight delay and see if that helps at all.

It also happened to me several times that after I played some rounds suddenly all options are changed. Graphic effects are all off, sound and music are set to 0% and controls are changed.  Shocked

I'll check my harddisc, maybe it's getting old and installing the game to anoher disc will solve it.

But quite strange is, that everytime before the bug with the missing profile (post 1) happens I have exactly the same zoots earned. Must be coincidence, though...   Roll Eyes

Harddisk sounds unlikely - CPU and RAM or overclocking seems more probable IF its a hardware-problem.

Nothing overclocked here. And RAM or CPU would make problems with other applications, too. But I never had this kind of problem with other games or programs.  Huh

Nah it's unlikely to directly be a hardware problem.  Like I say, I've added a delay between deleting the old file and creating the new one to see if that helps.

I have the same exact problem... so frustrating Sad  Has it been solved?  (sorry if this has already been cleared up somewhere else, I'm new to the boards.)

Hi Unclm311.

Well I've made a slight delay to the file saving routine but I'm not sure that will solve the problem as I can't reproduce it.

I'll upload it when I get the chance.

Thanks Smiley  In my error.log file it says the following

ERROR DATA LOG
08/15/07 : 01:55:20
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1329 : XML_Read() ::: tag not closed '>' :::
1329 : XML_Read() ::: Tag not recognised :::
In my data.log file it says this
GAME DATA LOG
08/15/07 : 01:55:20
Display Mode:1024 x 768 x 32
Timer Reset
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I'm not sure if that will help you, but that is from one of the times it happened...

Yeah everyone gets that message in their Error Data Log because I forgot to close that XML tag.  It doesn't actually cause a problem Smiley

Okay, this bug happened to me (exact one), but only once. All the graphics settings were reset to 0 (not normal), including the controls. The next time I played echoes, it asked me for a new username, and my old one was gone.

Hi Differ,

Thanks for that information.  I still can't recreate this problem but I'll look into it again and see if there's anything other than what I suggested earlier that I can try to fix it.
