Well it's fair to say Sony's e3 was rather good.  The contrast between the PS4 and Microsofts strategy for the XBone is night and day.

PS4 has no restrictions on selling used games, no restrictions on lending, no online authentication needed, no online DRM checks at all, is region free, you can easily replace the included HDD yourself, indies can self-publish etc.

And although the PS4 has significantly better specs than the XBone it's somehow $100 cheaper.  The only bad news was online gaming moving behind a paywall like Live already is.

This seems appropriate

Same old story.

I've heard it all before.

Do we really need new consoles ?

I really can't get excited by a new Xbox or Playstation these days.

I guess i'm pretty jaded by the console wars now.   Tongue

Well hopefully it wont be a console war this time and the XBone's horrible policies will see it slaughtered. Smiley

There will be little difference between PC & console gaming next gen IMO.  The PS4 is effectively a reasonably powerful PC and most big games will appear on both PC and console and most of th big indie games will too so it comes down to how you prefer to do your gaming.  For several reasons I'm a "slouched on the couch" gamer  BunnyMonkey!

From what i've seen of the new consoles, i don't see any justification on why you'd want to buy them.

Except for the fact that the next version of your favourite game will appear on it.

Hardware wise, the tech leap is getting much smaller with each new console.

Now, if the main feature was something like the occulus rift, then i'd be super excited.

Why havn't the big console manufacturers snapped up the rift, or fund it's development.
To me it's a no brainer.
It's the next big hardware leap. imo

Well, i've said it before, but it's pretty easy to set up a PC for couch gaming on a big screen tv.
Perhaps a bit more fiddly than a console but i don't really see that as a reason to prefer a console over PC hardware wise.

Each to their own i guess.

Well I can pick up a PS4 for £350, not spend another penny in 6 or 7 years and know it will still play all the latest games.  Nice interface, media stuff, friends lists, game switching & suspending, no load times, start playing games while they download etc.

I could do a lot of that on a PC and PC's offer other features too, but purely for gaming they can't match the convenience, performance and price.

Well i couldn't disagree more.    Smiley

And you forgot, reliability, especially where the Xbox is concerned.

Personally I'm with fog here, even with initiatives like that Big Screen mode Steam introduced and similar, PCs just don't work as well from the couch. Tiny text, keyboard and mouse interfaces... just aren't as practical as something purpose designed to work from the couch.

Thank god the 360 fail rates weren't the norm otherwise there would be no console industry Smiley  Even if the XBone wasn't inferior in every way to the PS4 I still wouldn't touch another Microsoft console at launch.

Since getting a PS1 at launch in 1995 the 360 was the first console I've had breakdown on me....and that got the RROD 5 times.  Thanks Microsoft  Tongue
