Oh man, that's perfect. We're throwing a halloween party for my Girlfriend's little sisters (fifteen-ish) and there's two things they like: games & zombies. So that's like the perfect excuse to plonk down 800 MS points for this, right?
If it wasn't for the fact I trust Rockstar then I'd say I'm sick to death of zombies being shoehorned into every game.  If anyone can do it right it's them though.

That might depend on what Achievements you want.  Have you met any bears yet?
oh God, no.
Heh.  I spent hours hunting in Tall Trees where the bears are.  It was by far my favourite area in the whole game, just make sure you have the Buffalo Gun. Smiley

Well, yes, but I was semi-expecting to see zombies or something like that in the game when I hit places like Tumbleweed or Sepulcro during a full moon.

Thing is, I do like my zombies to be slow. and dumb. I would like to see more of those. Oh wait, I basically just described the basic enemy behaviour for games from the 90's.

From what I've read there's little difference between DR1 & 2 anyway.  Certainly the things I didn't like much about the first game (the save system and the time based missions) still appear in the sequel.

I ended up really enjoying the first game after initially hating it because of the mission structure.  Trying to do all the missions in time really sucks the enjoyment out of it.  It was only when I completely ignored the missions and spent my first play-through just messing about and levelling up that I really enjoyed it.

So... finished Red Dead today. Then I thought I might as well get 100% in it as I was quite close to it anyways.

..but it turns out I can't. The game is just a mess when it comes to tracking stats, apparently. A lot of people have found more locations than what there is in the game yet the game often fails to register these. Or in my case it shows that I have found 14/17 locations in West Elisabeth, yet I can't buy any maps for the area since the game thinks I've found all the locations already.

So I'm stuck at 99.8% now and like many others, I'm waiting for yet another patch...

Ouch.  The same happened to me in Just Cause 2.  I spent hours uncovering all the villages and the stats showed I'd found one more than there supposedly was (something like 359/358), but I didn't get the achievement.

Anyway what did you think of the ending?  I thought right from the bit where you ride back to your family with the music playing, to the final showdown, to the revenge sequence was just fantastically done.

Have you tried RDR:Undead Redemption yet las6?  Just watched a mate play the first hour or so and it was fantastic.  Suitably frantic and sometimes comedic gameplay, brilliantly scripted, funny and some lovely little touches.

Anyone tried Kinect yet then?  Must say I don't have any interest in it at all.

Although the tech does seem fairly clever and the things the hackerzzz are doing with it offer a glimpse of where it might be used in future.  certainly a lot more interesting than anything I've seen Microsoft demo on the 360 so far anyway.

not having a 360 (I'm a sony fanboy, though I like to think I'm not a obnoxious as most of the others, Smiley then again, part of the disease of fanboyism is being blind to how annoying you are, so I'm likely wrong.), no.
but it seems it got mostly positive reviews for the most part, although some negatives exist too (mostly criticizing the response time), I heard some go so far as to say that its just a really cool $150 remote.
the games are really the defining point of every console/console expanding accessory though, since theres not really any game a normal gamer would likely appreciate so far (and none that I can think of for the future), I'm going to say it's nothing majorly special yet.

Yeh, i've seen some negative reviews too, regarding the response / lag time.

I also have absolutely no interest in it, or the Wii for that matter.

I'm much more old school, where i prefer either a mouse / trackball , joystick or keyboard.

And i definately prefer to sit while playing games.

And i'm really suprised at how well the Wii has sold for that matter.
It's had tremendous success and i really can't see why.
I put it down to a very forceful and expensive ad campaign and the fact that it's a bit gimicky.  Novelty factor.

What i'm still puzzled by is the lack of decent cheap VR headsets and devices for increased immersion in games.

I always thought VR was the next big step for games.

Have thought that for maybe 20 years now, but it's never happened where it's become as common as the joystick or mouse.

You just need to watch the current Nintendo ads on TV to see who it's being aimed at and who it's selling to.  None are even remotely aimed at the traditional gamer any more.

For these people though it isn't really that gimmicky as it's the only experience of video games they have.

What will be interesting is to watch the next Nintendo console release. Will this new market be as prepared to rush to buy the latest hardware as traditional gamers are?

I'm pretty sure far fewer of the old "traditional gamers" will buy it as few if any of the ones I know have even switched their Wii's on in months.  Not that it matters too much to Nintendo though as they are a small part of their market now.

Yeah it seems weird that 20 years ago there were VR demos on Tomorrows World when the technology was clearly incapable of making it work properly and now we have the hardware nobody seems to be even dabbling with it.

It would be a hard sell to the public though when most peoples biggest gripe about 3D TV is the need for glasses.

Liking Kinect, played it in a store which had Dance Central set up on a 4-TV wall with a big area. Mate bought it, kinda cool. Diggin' it.

Yeah if I was into dance games I can see the appeal of that.  I can barely muster the strength to waggle a Wiimote though Smiley

It will be interesting to see what developers do with it next though as, unlike the Wii & Move, it wont be easy to port traditional games to it so it should at least encourage some original ideas.

Just rented The Saboteur which I've been meaning to play for ages as it's by the now no more Pandemic (shut down by the suits at EA) who did the rough around the edges but huge fun Mercenaries games.

It's typically good fun and unlike the Merc games the engine itself is rather beautiful.  Set in 1940s Paris, everything starts off black and white with splashes of colour, with full colour returning to areas as you defeat the Nazis.  Screenies and even video don't do it full justice, it's really rather fantastic.
